Only One Week Until DrupalCon 2012!!
We're just one week away from the start of our development team's favorite time of the year - the DrupalCon 2012 conference happening March 19-23 in Denver, Colorado! This year will be the third time Outlier team members have traveled to the international conference that's grown by leaps and bounds, from 500 attendees at the 2008 shows to more than 3,000 at the Chicago event in 2011.
DrupalCon gives our team a chance to meet with other Drupal enthusiasts from around the world to share fresh new ideas and general knowledge surrounding the Drupal open-source platform. Drupal web design has been gaining in popularity over the last few years as more people become aware of the system's ability to organize, manage and adapt with a seemingly endless variety of customization.
"DrupalCon is a source of inspiration for the Outlier development team," says Outlier co-founder and lead developer Jed Herzog. "When we come home from these shows our heads are swimming with new ideas and excitement for new projects for Outlier clients and for Outlier."
The sense of community found at these events is another major benefit of the DrupalCon shows. Throughout DrupalCon week, social events and pullouts, or "coder lounges", give show attendees a chance to meet other individuals and agencies who are passionate about Drupal. The ironic thing? Just how many people the team meets at DrupalCon events in San Francisco, or Chicago, only to find out they are from Portland as well! Small world!
The DrupalCon 2012 conference is set up with different tracks dependent on user's interests. Outlier developer Ryan Armstrong began three years ago attending themer sessions but has progressed on to sessions focused on development of customized modules and active engagement in development and furthering of the Drupal core, meaning he also spends time contributing and giving back to the open source Drupal community. Jed says he enjoys sessions focused on the business side of Drupal--how businesses are using the platform and what that means for the industry as a whole.
Outlier Solutions specializes in web design and development using Drupal; a decision that came as a result of our first-hand experience witnessing Drupal's flexibility, customization options and scalability for small or large-scale projects. The DrupalCon 2012 show in Denver gives our team an opportunity to recharge their Drupal batteries and learn from other that use Drupal every day. The theme for the 2012 show "Collaborative Publishing for Every Device" is sure to thrill with a focus on the shift of web access from desktop computers to mobile devices, phones and tablets, and how that will change the way Drupal integrates different platforms.
One week and counting the minutes!
